It was organized by the group Frente Homosexual de Acción Revolucionaria (FHAR), which was connected to leftist movements, including the Cuban and Nicaraguan revolutions. FHAR dissolved in 1981, leading to tensions during the 1983 Gran Marcha Gay. This year’s parade effectively split into two separate marches due to political differences among the organizing groups. One march focused on civil and political rights for the gay community. The other march - organized by Red LHOCA, largely former FHAR members - welcomed trans participants and culminated in a rally denouncing violence against trans people and demanding an end to government raids (Worldcat). The name of the group Red LHOCA was a play on the word \"loco.\"\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Head to Tail Books","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":67924187676985,"sku":"001229","price":750.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0752\/2697\/2473\/files\/001229_1.jpg?v=1793661035","url":"https:\/\/headtotailbooks.com\/products\/four-posters-for-the-1983-mexico-city-pride-parade-gran-marcha-gay","provider":"Head to Tail Books","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
