Title: [1971 poster advertising "The Second Wave: A Magazine for the New Feminism"]

Author: [Female Liberation]

Publication: [Cambridge, Massachusetts]: [Female Liberation], 1971.

Description: Poster advertising Volume 1, Issue 3 of "The Second Wave: A Magazine for the New Feminism," published by the Boston-based organization Female Liberation, showing the cover of the issue, a list of articles, and where to get the magazine. This appears to be a proof copy; an initialed note on the verso reads "OK for posting?," followed by another initialed note responding, "OK." Illustrations. 13 x 18.5 inches; [1] sheet, text on recto only. Ink stamp of Boss Archives, on which we could find no further information. Vertical and horizontal folding creases and pinholes at the corners. Very Good.

Emerging from the second wave feminist movement, Female Liberation began publishing "The Second Wave" in spring 1971. Through poetry, fiction, graphics, and articles by both well-known and lesser-known writers, the magazine presented a wide range of feminist perspectives. After the organization dissolved in 1974, the magazine continued independently until it ceased publication in 1983. The issue advertised in this poster contained a review of Sylvia Plath's "The Bell Jar" and articles on child care, coming out in the women's movement, promiscuity, and more.
