Published as a project of the Federal Writers' Project, Works Progress Administration (WPA) for the State of Massachusetts. Presumed first edition, first printing (no later printings noted). Black-and-white photo illustrations. Bound in full yellow cloth over boards, stamped with brown lettering, with beige pictorial endpapers. In original beige pictorial dust jacket, showing price of $2.00. 8.75 x 5.75 inches; [10], 403, [3] pages, [16] pages of plates. Binding with moderate soiling and light bumping, interior with light toning, dust jacket in pieces with significant wear and tape repair on verso. Very Good in Poor jacket.
