Description: A collection of eight dance event program booklets from Iowa colleges, issued between 1950 and 1952. Seven booklets are from Iowa State College, now known as Iowa State University, and one from University of Iowa. Most programs list the event committee, the musicians, and the date and location of the event, with some listing invited guests. All the booklets are tied with a twisted cord, most of which have tassels. Many were printed by Laurance Press Company, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a couple by Harding's, Chicago. Light edgewear, one booklet with a name writtten in ink. All Near Fine, except for one Very Good booklet with slightly more wear. A snapshot of college life in the midwestern United States between the end of World War II and the advent of rock and roll, when big bands were still important.

Event held on November 3, 1951, with music by Roger Loots. In metallic gold wrappers with a transparent overlay printed in black, red cord. 2.5 x 3.5 inches; [4] pages. -- 5. "Sweetheart Ball of 1951." Event held at Memorial Union (Iowa State College), December 8, 1951, featuring Henry Charles, "stylist of sweet swing", presented by the Independent Student Association.
