Description: First edition of this elementary Samoan grammar for English speakers. Inscribed by the author to W.H. Neumann in the year of publication. Bound in quarter brown cloth over tan paper sides, with the title and a decorative design in brown. 7.5 x 5 inches; [8], 169, [7] pages. Binding with some edgewear and toning; two leaves (including title page) loose but present; else a Very Good copy with a clean interior. A second edition was published by North Shore Gazette Ltd. in 1949, with later reprints. The author Evelyn Alice Downs, 1897-1985, was also known for co-authoring Health for Samoa [Maloloina mo Samoa], a series of instructional healthcare books in English and Samoan.
