In "Valerie's Cake," Valerie's efforts to bake a cake go awry when her cat Tommy gets involved. Both books are illustrated by French children's book illustrator Jeanne Lagarde (1911-2012). In pictorial card wrappers. [8] unnumbered pages in each book, with first and last pages adhered to wrapper; 4 x 6.25 inches.
The mechanism for the final pop-up in "Meddlesome Mike" is broken, but all elements are present and attached to the pages. Both books have rubbed extremities, but are generally clean and bright. Overall, Good+ for "Meddlesome Mike" and Very Good+ for Valerie's Cake. Charming, rare children's pop-ups, with only one copy of "Meddlesome Mike" and none of "Valerie's Cake" in Worldcat.
