Author: Crothers, Samuel McChord

Publication: Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1914.

Description: A man's mostly supportive, though dated, perspective on women's suffrage. First edition. Bound in full brown cloth, stamped in gilt and blind, with top edge gilt. 8 x 5.75 inches; [2], xi, [1], 81, [1] pages. From the library of Zorah W. Bowman (1874-1947), with her rather elaborate bookplate on the front pastedown. Moderate edgewear and spotting to binding and light foxing to endpapers, but a clean interior. Very Good. Former owner Zorah Bowman was an Ohio-based philanthropist who engaged in charitable work both domestically and overseas. She was a founder of the Luella Cummings Home for Girls and was involved in the Girl Scouts and other community organizations. She was well-traveled and served in Europe for the Red Cross during World War I. Her foundation continued to disperse funds for charitable causes until 2023, with the final disbursement going towards recreational facilities and playgrounds in Toledo, Ohio.
