Description: First edition of the Book of Jasher published by the Rosicrucian order A.M.O.R.C. Originally printed by Jacob Ilive in 1751 and considered a literary forgery, this is a facsimile of the edition of 1829. It was said that Alcuin (Flaccus Albinus Alcuinus) discovered the lost Book of Jasher of the Bible while on a pilgrimage into the Holy Land and Persia. This is supposed to be his translation of the text into English from Hebrew. Bound in quarter black leatherette with printed paper over boards, stamped in gilt on the spine. 11 x 8.25 inches; xi, [3], 63, [1], 9, [3] pages. Laid in is a color-printed bookmark by A.M.O.R.C. Orange label from Rosicrucian Supply Bureau on front pastedown and numbered paper label on the spine. Binding with bumped edges and mild soiling, small dampstain on front free endpaper, else a clean interior. Very Good+.
