In Clarke & Bedford binding (stamp-signed on front free endpaper) of full brown goatskin over boards, with elaborate gilt foliate border within double-line fillet frame, spine with five raised bands and gilt in compartments with floral and circular tools, board edges and turn-ins gilt with double-line fillet, marbled endpapers, and all edges gilt. 8.5 x 5.25 inches; [2], 8, 248 pages. Armorial bookplate of Henry and Anne Rebecca Collins on front pastedown. From the collection of Arthur Williams Hall (1873–1952) of Massachusetts, bibliophile and manufacturer of laboratory equipment, with his acquisition notes on the verso of the front free endpaper (notes in a different hand on the facing page); thence by descent through three generations. Light wear and spotting to the binding, some foxing to first few and last few leaves, small abrasion to fore-edge not affecting the text. Very Good in a Near Fine binding.
