First edition. Illustrated with one fold-out plate depicting bees and beehives. Bound in contemporary quarter leather (sheep?) with tan paper over boards, gilt spine and lettering piece. Octavo; 8.25 x 5.25 inches, with 10 x 10 inch fold-out plate; [4], iv, 460 pages, [1] folded leaf of plates; pi^4 1-28^8 29^6. Binding rather edgeworn and rubbed with a few ink stains, light dampstaining to first two and last two leaves of text, stains to endpapers, 2-inch closed tear to plate with tape repair on verso by former owner. Good to Very Good. Charles Romain Feburier (1764-183?) was a French lawyer and prosecutor who retired to Versailles and became an apiculturist and horticulturalist.
