The Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence was established in 1992 to address gaps in services for domestic violence survivors from Asian communities in the Greater Boston and Lowell, Massachusetts areas. Many of these survivors are recent immigrants and face difficulties with finding linguistically and culturally appropriate care. The newsletter addresses the need for a shelter for these survivors and seeks to raise funds to establish such a shelter. The Asian Shelter and Advocacy Program (ASAP) was successfully established in 1993 and continues today as one of the few in the nation providing support for Asian survivors of domestic violence.
