Description: Not a book, but a Victorian-era blotter, made of black lacquered papier-mâché, with inlaid mother-of-pearl, painted floral design, gilt borders, printed floral pastedowns. Includes eight blank pages, held in place by a red ribbon, that would have been used by the owner to absorb excess ink while writing. 9 x 6 inches; [8] pages. Dampstain on the front cover, half-inch split at tail of spine, tiny losses to mother-of-pearl, and pen marks on last page. Still, a very attractive example of a Victorian blotter.
